Slow Roasted Just Like Maggie Used To.

As a young boy stomping around the old West End of Findlay, Ohio, I was lucky enough to live near Mrs. "Maggie" Phillips' old white two-story house. Her first floor was a small general store. It was a child's dream with its old creaky wooden floors, comic books, penny candy, and an aroma of fresh roasted nuts. For a returnable pop bottle, I could get a small bag of those warm Redskin Peanuts or delicious Cashews. Today I own the store (Wolfies EST. 1992) and we roast our nuts everyday using the same old-fashioned techniques that Maggie used. From Jumbo Cashews and Extra Large Redskin Peanuts to Almonds and Pecan Halves our dedication to that slow roasted quality started by Maggie is what sets us apart.

Japanese Style Peanuts Make Their Way to Findlay, OH from Mexico.

In February 1996, Wolfies Roasted Nut Co. began roasting Crunchy Coated Peanuts. Made using a unique recipe and process for dry roasting nuts they were discovered in "Old Mexico" by brothers Don and Hillis Schieber. They operated a chick hatchery in Findlay and were in Mexico for business when they first tried the peanuts. After tracking down the Japanese born Mexican citizen who was roasting the nuts out of his home in Mexico City they secured the rights and brought the recipe home from Mexico in 1961, patenting the process. All these years later we are proud to carry on the tradition of this unique fire roasting process, even roasting on the same custom-built ovens the Scheiber’s used in the 60’s. The crisp coating and snappy flavor have made Wolfies Crunchy Roasted Peanuts an international favorite, and a delicious addition to Wolfies selection of fresh roasted nuts. We are proud to carry on the tradition of quality started by Maggie, Don, and Hillis. Our customers love the slow roasted taste, and we are always looking for ways to add to our line of unique and flavorful roasted nuts.

A Family Affair

These days, Wolfies is still operating out of Findlay, OH and is still a small family-owned business. Run by Bill Wolf and his son Jared Wolf, with help from daughter/sister Olivia Wolf we are happy to carry on the legacy of those before us with a high quality, customer-oriented mindset.
